Shoes

Shoes provide a vehicle for integrated advanced functionality and active fashion elements.  Functions that can be integrated include:

  • Wireless links to other body mounted components
  • GPS
  • MP3 player
  • Accelerometers for movement analysis, activity levels, training
  • Pressure sensors for gait and posture analysis
  • Active movement enhancement

The wireless Foot Pod from Garmin attaches to a running shoe  by threading through the laces for a secure fit) and transmits your distance and pace to the Forerunner. Use the Foot Pod on an indoor track, treadmill or anywhere you can't get GPS satellite signals.

The Foot Pod is designed to measure forward-motion activities like walking and running. Unlike step counters, the Foot Pod uses accelerometers so it can accurately report distance traveled.
