The interconnection harness is implemented as an RS485 bus within the outer garment. This links the various sensors, alarm and communications modules with the electronic box. An internal battery supplements the external, flexible, battery.
Equivalent systems are implemented for the firefighter (outer garment) and the civilian (a box linked to the civilian band).
